2024 CTE PRESIDENTIAL SCHOLARS OHIO NOMINEE: Rishika Jayaprakash

Biotechnician Assistant - Great Oaks Career Centers


Rishika Jeyaprakash is a Senior at William Mason High School graduating with four different state seals and with credentials to become a Biotechnician Assistant through her participation in Great Oaks's Biomedical Sciences Program. Through a rigorous load of 20 AP, honors, and college courses, Rishika has attained a 4.41 GPA. She also has achieved a perfect ACT and was named a National Merit Semi-Finalist.


Rishika is a tremendous space biology enthusiast and dreams of being a doctor in space! She was the only Ohioan selected for the prestigious NASA GeneLab for High Schools Internship, where she spent weeks working with top scientists and peers to develop a research proposal on mammary health in space. She recently presented this paper at the American Society for Gravitational and Space Research, and was invited by leading NASA researchers to collaborate on a similar paper.


To further her medical passions, Rishika competes in HOSA and was the 2023 International Champion, 2023 Ohio State Champion, and 2023 Regional Champion for the event of CERT Skills. Through her work in Mason's Science National Honor Society, she also enjoys fostering a passion for science in younger kids.


As a nationally recognized non-profit entrepreneur and the founder and CEO of Little Helpers (a 501c3 non-profit organization), Rishika strives to radiate kindness and inspire kids to give back. Over the past eight years, Little Helpers has raised over $18,500 for various charitable causes, bringing together and inspiring hundreds of youth volunteers. She also leads the Little Helpers Youth Advisory Board and hosts a podcast she founded called Little Helpers Big Inspirations. Little Helpers has received accolades and commendations from her US Congressman, the General Assembly and was featured on a national TV program, Operation Awesome. Rishika's other awards include the Congressional Award Gold Medal, the highest recognition by the US Congress. She received the Congressional STEM Star and the President's Volunteer Service Award - Gold for three years. She also won the UN Gold Ambassador Award, the Kroger Zero Hunger Hero Award, the ServeOhio Community Impact Award, the Children Have the Power to Empower Award, and the Prudential Spirit of Community Awards.


She is also a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Justice Advocate and student leader of Mason High School's Inclusive Excellence Leadership Team, Vice President of Mason High School National Honor Society, and Core Leader and Logistics Director of Cincinnati's Asian Youth Alliance.


Rishika is incredibly passionate about making a difference in this world (and out of it!) and truly believes the sky is the limit.
